Jakarta, 28 December 2021 – Bakti Barito Foundation is supporting Indonesia’s food security goal through Bakti Pangan Lestari Program. Bakti Pangan Lestari contributes to the country’s food security and safety through building capacity of farmers and revitalizing the national curriculum on sustainable and integrated farming principles.
From 13-17 December 2021, Bakti Barito Foundation working together with a community-based organisation, The Learning Farm held a training program in Cianjur, West Java, for vocational teachers from a number of provinces in Indonesia.
The training aims to revitalise national curriculum by building the capacity of vocational teachers in agribusiness and agrotechnology, a first step to ensure that farming practices in the field can become more sustainable with less reliance on harmful pesticides and have better production yield. The revitalized module and results of trainings will be submitted formally to the Ministry of Education and Culture for strategic input.
Fifi Setiawaty, Chairperson of Bakti Barito Foundation said, “Promoting sustainable farming principles is an important part to ensure that we can have safer and better quality of fresh produce. Sustainable farming can provide food security for the communities as they can grow the fresh produce by themselves and safe cost.”
Bakti Pangan Lestari was awarded Gold Category in 2021 Indonesia Sustainable Development Award, an annual independent evaluation of corporate sustainability programs in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
During the pandemic, the program has also benefited farmers in Tebo Regency in Jambi. By growing their own vegetable, they are able to reduce food cost and save travel expense to the community market located far away from where they reside. “Bakti Pangan Lestari program has taught me to learn sustainable farming principles that helps enhance our farm’s produce, useful for our daily staple during Covid-19 pandemic’’ said Sugiyo, the head of farmers community in Napal Putih village, Tebo Regency, who has received sustainable and integrated farming training. On August 6, 2020, BRPT held an Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) and Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) with an agenda of 6 agenda items of the AGMS & 2 agenda items of the EGMS. In order to ensure the fulfillment of the policy of limiting physical distance and limiting the number of people in one room, the meeting is held in a separate room, where all rooms are connected and equipped with video conference facilities. The meeting took place from 11.00 - 12.10 WIB in the M-Floor Auditorium Room, Wisma Barito Pacific, Slipi, West Jakarta.
Barito Pacific Group handed over sacrificial animals to welcome Eid al-Adha 1441 H. Sacrificial animals were handed over to the West Jakarta Police, Slipi An-Nur Foundation & Mosque, Al-Furqon-Slipi Foundation, and Jamie Al Fatah-Juanda Mosque. This time Chandra Asri also donated a thin wall container for qurban meat packaging to make it more hygienic and environmentally friendly because it can be reused and recycled. This plastic container is a substitute for the plastic bag that is usually used to wrap qurban meat. The hope is that besides fostering love for others, we also cultivate a sense of compassion for nature.
PT Mastindo Mulia, a subsidiary of Barito Pacific donated PCR laboratory car to BNPB to help with PCR swab test to diagnose Covid-19. Director of PT Mastindo Mulia, Yazirwan Uyun and Head of BNPB Doni Monardo signed the handover documents of this donation in Jakarta, Wednesday (22/07). This donation is part of support for the handling of Covid-19 from Mr. Prajogo Pangestu. This PCR laboratory car also has a Bio Safety Cabinet and a room with negative pressure which is filtrated using HEPA, in order to minimize virus transmission according to the standards recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Barito Pacific Group and its subsidiaries namely Chandra Asri, Star Energy, and the Bakti Barito Foundation handed over 1000 packages of basic necessities to residents around the Barito Pacific Group office location in Slipi, Jakarta. This donation was handed over to the community representative, Police station office representative in Palmerah in the spirit of sharing during the pandemic and in welcoming the Holy Month of Ramadan. Barito Pacific Group Vice President Director Rudy Suparman said: “We want to share with the community and help those who affected by the economy in this pandemic situation. Hopefully, this basic food aid can ease their burden in the holy month of Ramadan".
Prajogo Pangestu, Founder and Chairman of Barito Pacific Group distributed medical assistance worth IDR 40 billion to deal with the corona pandemic (COVID-19). This donation was handed over in stages and distributed to hospitals in DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten. This donation was obtained from subsidiaries of the Barito Pacific Group, namely Chandra Asri Petrochemical, Star Energy and the Bakti Barito Foundation. According to the President Director of Barito Pacific, Agus Salim Pangestu, the medical assistance provided included 45,000 COVID-19 test kits consisting of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and a rapid test kit. There are also 120,000 surgical masks and N95 masks, as well as 2 ventilator units. Include in this donation are 60,000 personal protective equipment, dozens of oxygen therapy kits, hundreds of gloves, boots, and other equipment.
